Thank you for your interest in our 52nd annual Miss Teen Chinatown Scholarship and Charity Gala, our theme this year is "Past, Present, and Future", we would like to give a little backstory of this event:
In 1965, a group of teenagers approached the San Francisco Chinatown Lions Club with the idea for presenting a positive image of the Chinese American youth ambassadors to our community. After a year of gathering community support, planning, and organizing, the idea became a reality. On November 1966 twins Kathy and Vivian Tong shared the inaugural Miss Teen Chinatown title.
Over the past five decades, San Francisco Chinatown Lion members continuously directed the Miss Teen Chinatown Scholarship and Charity Gala, which has evolved into a community wide charitable fundraising success. Thanks to the participation of several corporations, local business leaders, professionals, volunteers, youths, and parents millions of dollars has been generated to supplement our community’s needs. Not only do we contribute to community service organizations within our community, but we also provide educational scholarships to our community's youth.
Mission Statement:
To provide a venue to promote the positive image of our young women in the Chinese community.
To encourage and develop the of academic excellence, community service, extra-curricular activities, leadership, talent, and charity of our teens.
To foster a greater understanding among likeminded individuals and to create bonds of lasting friendship among the youth from the surrounding Bay Area communities.
To raise valuable funds to service the needs of our community.
To provide scholarship funding to the participants.
